Drive 2 Survive has teamed up with the Borderlines Film Festival to present some of the best Romani cinema in Hereford next weekend

Drive 2 Survive's campaign for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller cultural survival has a big lifelong mission - creating visibility for our cultures where there currently isn't any.

As part of that mission we've just returned from the Berlinale film festival in Berlin where we met funders, international partners and Romani film makers in the newly formed Avaazya (voices) network. Together we are developing both fictional and documentary films that in years to come will help to break the almost total invisibility of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller voices in mainstream cinema and TV.

In the meantime, on March 5th, Drive 2 Survive co-chair Jake Bowers will be off to present and discuss some of the best Romani films currently available at the Borderlines Film Festival. The festival has picked one of the best films from last years festival of Romani film Ake Dikhea https://akedikhea.com/en/ How Far the Stars (which looks at the fortunes of a Hungarian Romani musician) and combined them with two campaign films from the European Proud Roma campaign https://proudroma.org/ . The final film Leaving to Remain follows the lives of 3 Romani migrants to the UK.
