A new documentary has sensitively looked at how homophobia within some Gypsy and Traveller families has blighted lives without creating yet another stick for the media to beat our communities with.
In Cherry Valentine: Gypsy Queen and Proud, George Ward explores how homophobia forced him to leave the Romany community he grew up in. Throughout it's hour long length it sensitively explores how he can reconcile the two identities. The film features great contributions from members of Traveller Pride and was partly filmed at the Drive 2 Survive rally in parliament square in July 2021.
